He opens the door immediately and greets her with a kiss.
"Come inside. I have been working very hard."
He leads her back through the cave. The path on either side is now lined with soil, held back with natural crystal protrusions, like a fence. The main cavern still has plenty of room for the console, her chair, and his vat, of course.
There is a new door where a separate chamber had once been, looking a little out of place against one wall. It's closed for now.
And was surprised it wasn't a new tree. No, it was...
"A room? You made a new room?" And there was now soil- for mushrooms, she thought, and crystals too. She wanted to investigate those too but- the door was new.
He smiles at her reaction, standing just a ways back.
"I did. I made it with you in mind. Go ahead. Open it and see."
Inside is a bedroom, carved from stone with a larg, comfortable bed, a desk, and lighting. It is warm and inviting, the linens clean and actually quite cozy. There is also a bathroom to the side, similar in style, with a working shower.
"I thought it would be a nice place to take you if you fell asleep. Certainly better than the chair. And you can shower if you'd like. And have everything you need to be comfortable. And you have another refuge, should you need it."
He lets the kiss linger a while, gently cupping the back of her neck. He revels in her happiness, her joy. Sym would do anything for her, to see that smile. Especially after she's endured so much loss.
He leads her back, taking her hand. "I thought I might carve into the rock to make shelves for more, should these take hold. I am still learning what all they need to survive."
She twined their fingers together, and walked with him. She could not stop smiling.
"I don't know much about mushrooms either." She confessed. "I need to talk to them, and research them. I know some like certain kinds of rot, I think?"
"Yes. And tree roots. But I spoke with some at port and I think I replicated some of their needs here," he explains. "Hoefully their brethren will give me further insights once they grow."
"I have plenty of variety that will do so, but so few do it unless it's a specific season. We could convince them that it is Glow," he teases. "They will give us a few weeks where we can explore our other options."
"I guess we'll have to say it's Glow season." Her voice was fond. "But I'm sure we could figure out a few ways we want it. We could even ask the Admiral, if we like."
"We could, but I would prefer to do it our way. The Admiral has so much on
his hands and we are all so very talented," he explains. "I know we can all
work on it."
"Mm. I'd rather do it our way anyway. It feels...better when we say we've done it ourselves, you know? Hard work paying off." She leaned her head against his shoulder. "We'll figure something out."
He laughs softly. "Aerith, you are exceptionally complimentary. But good. Do you want to explore the room a little more? I want to know where you'd like to put plants."

"Oh...oh." She took a few more steps, looking around, touching the desk. And there was...it was a whole suite.
"Sym, this is...so sweet."
no subject
He follows her inside, a hand on her shoulder.
"Do you like it?"
no subject
"This is wonderful, Sym. Thank you." She turned to kiss him, smiling, and moved to hug him. "This is truly...it's so thoughtful."
no subject
"Would you like to meet the mushrooms, too?"
no subject
"The mushrooms? Yes please!" She beamed at him, and moved to hold his hands, squeezing them briefly. "I know Wen Qionglin was looking for some."

He can't help but sound very excited about this.

She was very excited too. "I'd like to find out too! I love figuring out how to grow new things."
They certainly had that in common.

"I would too. Let's do it." She was smiling hard enough to hurt. "Show me the mushrooms please?"
no subject
He doesn't have many lights here. Only in the bedroom and by the console.
"I wonder if we could create some bioluminescence."
no subject
"Well...I think we would nee the right kind of fungi for that to work or...oh." She wanted to smack her forehead.
"We could ask a couple of people for that. John might have some in his garden, or if Ulla understands it well enough she can sing it into being."
She considered. "Taylor might even have some glow worms even. Or...there's your beautiful plants from home. We have so many options."

He holds her close, steady and firm. "We will have these mushrooms growing in no time. With lights, too."
He turns, gently brushing his nose against her hair. "I am so glad I found you."
no subject
"I'm glad you found me too. And not just for mushrooms and lights."
She rubbed her fingers against his side. "That's just a bonus." She was teasing, just a little.
no subject
"Mm...are you feeling any better?" he wonders, standing up and taking her hand.
no subject
"You're with me. I feel so much better." She assured him.
