Opt In Post
Jul. 27th, 2024 02:47 pmI decided to do a seperate post to do an opt in post for some of the powers Aerith has, magic and cetra wise! Just this way it can be completely clear what Aerith may or may not pick up on a person, completely by accident or purposefully.
It'll be broken down into two sections, just to make things a little more clear. And of course, if there is any confusion, please ask! I'd be happy to clarify.
Magic:
Aerith, being a warden has access to a staff. Within it are seven orbs known as materia. The full list of magic spells that she can use can be found here . Spells that can effect other characters (other than healing and depoisoning) that may concern others that she can perform are the following:
Barriers to physical/magic
Confusion- causes target to attack allies
Barrier removal
Stop- making character unable to move for at least a turn
Forcing sleep
Elemental attacks (ice/fire/earth/gravity/lightning/poison)
She also has instant death magic that she could cast, but she will not cast it without prior planning and permission by the players. There is also a percentage chance that it would not work.
While Aerith does have these abilities, she also has the following abilities due to her Half-cetra status, which is known as:
Cetra
As being a Cetra, she can commune with the planet (and plants). But more importantly, she could do the following:
Sensing unseen things.
This has mostly been implied and seen with her being aware of sensing other's death. She won't know how they've died- just that they're no longer among the living.
Imparting information.
Through physical touch, Aerith can impart information to other people or sentient creatures. It can be a little or a lot of information. This is something that Aerith may struggle to do on command, as it's only been indicated in canon once.
Sharing dreams.
Aerith has been able to share a dream in a setting of her choosing in order to have a conversation. She appeared to have been in control of the setting, and only once she had walked away, did Cloud wake up.
In short, unless you opt in, Aerith will use any cetra abilities, nor will she use magic to cause an altered state (as in forcing sleep, death, etc) without consent of the players involved.

Character information
Name: Aerith Gainsborough
Age: 23 (31?)
Date of Birth: February 7th, 1993 (1985?)
Canon: Final Fantasy Seven
Species: Fae. True, Aerith is a mix in canon, but she is often labeled as a cetra as canon. With her deep ties to magic, I think it would make more sense to have her as a pure fae (abit with an interesting background) than as a witch or as a changling.
Role: Florist. I believe it would go with her role in canon as the "flower girl" selling flowers for a gil a pop. It would also go well as giving a place for her to garden, even during the winter, and an excuse for her to be in various places. Why is she here? She's making a delivery, or increasing business. With Aerith ties to earth and water, I think she would make a perfect candidate for the Seelie faction.
Rank: 2! A knight would be a good way to ease in, though one would also make sense. While I do have ambitions with her, starting off too high seems to be putting the cart in front of the horse.
Background:
Settling in London and living between Otherworld and London
Meeting the love of her life and heart break
Aerith was born to her proud Seelie parents while they were on a world vacation in Finland. Though English in orgin, they had taken it upon themselves to travel around the world on an idle whim shortly after they learned of the pregnancy. However, the vacation did not last long after Aerith was born; a month after her birth, while on tour in Norway, a coven came upon the small family. Aerith's father was killed in he confrontation, and Aerith and her mother were forced to become familars for the coven.
For the first seven years of Aerith's life, she and her mother were slaves to the xoven. Aerith' memory was vague of these years, mostly to protect her own mind. But when Aerith was seven, she and her mother were able to escape. It was a violent, quick retreat, leaving serval members maimed and cursed in their wake.
However, this, was not without price. Aerith's mother was barely able to bring Aerith the King's Crossing from across Europe before she collapsed, dying from iron posioning.
This left Aerith alone, surrounded by humans and uncertain of where to find shelter. Luckily, she was found soon after by a kind woman who was bound by the,Seelie court, who had wished to see her departed husband one last time.
Aerith, scared and uncertain, clung to her, taking in the faint scent of far as a comfort. It was clinging to the woman's life that she was first introduced to fae other than her mother. It was, in short, and unusal situation, but with the tale she told the court of her mother, the coven, and how there were signs of Aerith still being hunted by the deadly coven, a compromised was reached for Aerith's health and safety. She would be allowed to live with the woman in London, provided she travelled frequently back to Otherworld for her education. Aerith was happy to agree.
The deal made, she moved into the poorer part of London, living with the far bound woman and tracelling frequently between London and Otherworld for her education on the Seelie court, their methods, and her natural magic. It was a good childhood.
For the most part.
It took a few years, but the coven that bound her at birth had ties to the Circles of London, and considered her their personal property. More than once, Aerith evaded them by the skin of her teeth. The frquent attempts to kidnap her and find her true name caused her to become shy and withindrawn of strangers.
That is, until she met a certain man at fifteen. He fell through a roof of an old building she frequently visited, and old church she often used both to grow flowers for herself and as a tunnel to the Otherworld. She hadn't been certain if he would survive; and called out a greeting. But he did, and called her an angel.
That was how her friendshi, and eventual relationshi with Zack Fair started. He travelled a lot, and while they could not always see each other, she savored their relationship for the precious thng it was. Then the visits and the calls stopped. For four years, while she built up favor in the human and far worlds, she wrote letters, hoping he would reply. But at twenty three, she thought she felt his death.
Grieving privately to herself, Aerith decided then to move out on her own and throw herself into her work. Eventually she became a florist, and started, working in various shops, before finding a balance between two shops she moved between during the seasons. If asked, she simply likes the variety, for all they are both within fae territory.
These days, she is a frequent sight, walking down the street with her flower basket, if not in front of the shops. While Aerith is an adult Seelie, she still straddles the human and fae worlds, not truly in one or another but liasion of both.
Personality:
Use midsyn app as base and build up from it to work
Mysterious, beautiful and charming
Petty anger
In Underground, Aerith is a woman who by upbringing is not completely one world or another. She straddles the line when it comes between nature and technology, but makes perfect claim to either. And in this, we see the full compass of her personality.
Though it could be blamed on her heritage, Aerith is a charming individual, to the point of being highly charismatic. In a conversation, she can make strangers feel at ease with her, and appear, in not in truth, to truly enjoy their company. She's personable, taking the time to listen without judgement, or at least much of it. Most of the time, she has a,smile on her lips and goes out of her way to ensure others are comfortable around her.
And yet, she also lends to an air of mystery. For while she is honest, to the point of being disarmingly so, it can he difficult to tell what is on her mind. At times, she can make unpredictable comments about the person she is obsering or speaking to, and rarely reveals information about herself. More often than not, she evades, the sources of informstion about her past needing to come from other sources.
That isn't to say she doesn't say what her everyday likes and dislikes are. She will, loudly, particularly if she wants it right at that moment. That is very obvious when she has been denied something she wanted. She huffs, grumbles, even (though rarely) to the point of a,slap.
But for all she can, have herselfish tendencies, she can be far more giving. She would give herself up for a child, cry for her enemies, and do whatever she can to protect her friends, even to the risk of her life.
Still, for all she is generous in spirit, she is still far. She is not to be trend against lightly. Nor does she offer her friendship, or more importantly her trust, too easily. She had been burned before, and will not be so easily taken in. And since she is about to enter the world of politics, this can only world in favor for her cause.
