[Not all of her assassination work had been performed in seedy areas, but some of it had - enough that she's been in the underbelly of at least half of her world's major cities.]
You spent a lot of time there? Gotta say, I didn't take you as the red light district type.
So much so, that I made friends with an eco terrorist group.
It's not as bad as it sounds though.
[She chuckled, gently clinking her glass back.]
My mom would have been beside herself with worry if I didn't tell her where I was going. I only ran away once. We talked about it though, when I came home.
Someone else could ask. Let you know if they think you'd want to know.
[Maybe that would just compound the problem, carrying the risk of one more person keeping a difficult secret. But on the other hand, maybe having an intermediary from a different world - someone with no personal stake - would be a relief.]

You scam guys for drinks?

It was pretty easy. I just made sure not to do it at the brothels.

Why, what would they do to you if you did?
no subject
It'd make things kinda awkward to clear that up. I don't want to get in the way of the people working there- they're busy enough.

Are they common where you're from? In New York, they're all pretty underground. Strip clubs are a little more mainstream.

Not in Midgar, no- even if it was the capital city and all.
It was just in one sector, under the city plates. Kinda the place to go to for entertainment that wasn't strictly legal.

I don't. At least, it wasn't my every night kind of stop. But it was in the sector next to mine.
For safety and for keeping an eye on people and- sometimes escape- I got familiar with it.
It was a busy place. Good to lose people in, if I didn't want my mom to know I was being tracked.

[She leans in, clinking her glass against Aerith's.]
I didn't sneak out or get in trouble when I was a kid; my mom would have killed me.

I'm not sure if she's alive or not though. Been too scared to ask.
no subject
Who would you ask? You know someone who knows?
no subject
Reno, maybe. I'm scared to see the blank look on their faces before they shake their heads.

But- if it would be...I know that it would be an obligation too.
