[Her eyes flick up to Root...wow. She was a tall glass of water, wasn't she? That was a lot of woman there, wasn't she? While it started from the people from their world making this safety corner, it was about keeping people safe. And Root was one of those people who needed to be safe, in her coma.
Aerith nodded, and stepped to the side- then thought about it, before coming forward.]
Yeah. Here. Let me take her feet at least, and we'll get her comfortable. We should have a spare pillow or blanket for her from the ship.
[Shaw murmurs, carefully shifting part of Root's weight over to Aerith so that they can get her down easier. Once she's settled, she grabs a pillow, arranging it under her head and shoulders.]
Thanks. Be right back.
[And with that, she'll head off to hunt down a hammock. She's tired, yes, but god, walking is easier when she isn't carrying a giraffe of a woman. Luckily, she won't be gone long, and about fifteen minutes later she'll reappear with one bundled in her arms.]
[It's easier, working together. Gently, she moves to set Root on the ground, and gets her comfortable. Aerith doesn't say anything, but she offers Shaw a smile and a nod.
Once Shaw is back, Aerith is sitting on the ground with Root, a staff across her lap. Root is lucky; she's surrounded by people from Gaia. They could wreck shop of a lot of people on this dumb ship. And...well, That includes Aerith.]
Doing okay. I got my staff just in case, but I think it'll be fine.
[She sets it aside for now, and makes to stand up.]
We haven't heard a thing. And we have no reason to believe anything he says.
[Aerith frowned, and folded her arms over her chest.]
What we know is he wanted supplies, particularly food. Everything else was secondary. And, we know that he and the Admiral have devices that can reach out to each other and the other ships.
But it's not with, as he put it, cute mouth noises.
He could have been lying about the Admiral calling him.
[Shaw points out, her eyes on Root in the hammock. Now that she's settled, it would make sense to go off and get cleaned up herself, if she can find some running water.
But instead, she eases herself onto the hammock too, nudging Root over so that she can fit.]
The Admiral told us to hang on tight, but he didn't say crap about sending some stranger to pick us up. The Barge wasn't damaged, right? There's no reason he couldn't have grabbed us himself.
The guns are cool. Not a fan of the implication that they're used against innocent people, but the guns themselves? Badass.
[Finally, Shaw stops wiggling around, coming to rest with her right ear pressed against Root's chest. If she's going to be bedding down with a creepy comatose person, she likes having the steady thrum of her heartbeat in her ear.]
The Barge is... dizzying. It's hard to explain without getting into more backstory than you're probably interested in hearing, but I've had my fill of things that look real, but aren't. So much of the Barge is just more of that, you know what I mean?

[But for now, at least, she'll let Aerith help her lower her onto the floor.]
I can go steal one from somewhere else and bring it over.

[She'll go and grab Root's feet, and makes sure to lift her up. Thankfully with her exercise as of late, she's not completely noodle armed anymore.]
But I think there should be some around. We'll settle her in the back, get the hammock up, and put her in. No back problems that way.

You doing okay, Aerith?

Here. Let me help you with that.

Staff? You fight with it, or what?

[She confessed as she took her side of the hammock.]
Though I have hit monsters with it before, magic is much more...of a conversation-ender.

I'm kinda weak. So fire is pretty neat.

[Shaw jerks her chin at Root, her hands busy as she threads the hammock strings around a wooden support pole. ]
I trained her in hand-to-hand, and look at her skinny arms.

[Though...Aerith glanced at Root, before moving to tie her end of the pole.]
She does have some height on me. So...I might have to aim higher.

[Once she's up. Shaw pauses, finishing the tie-off and moving back over to Root's shoulders, preparing to lift once Aerith is ready.]
You hear of anyone in a coma who has woken up since the crash?
[The thought that it might not be possible - that without the Admiral in close contact, they'll just sleep indefinitely - is concerning.]
no subject
[Though that...Aerith shook her head, the idea making her resigned.]
Not yet. But we haven't heard that they wouldn't.

The Barge wasn't damaged. But he did say that it needed to be deep cleaned. So...likely he's in the middle of a...
Barge wash? Maybe? But the cutting ties is...odd.
no subject
Don't get me wrong, the other ship was cool before it got wrecked on us. But I don't see why the Admiral had to kick us off to "clean" at all.
no subject
Really, I have no idea. I still don't know how the Barge really works.
no subject
[Shaw grumbles, as she nudges Root's leg over with her knee.]
Does that bug you? Because it drives me crazy, but everybody else just seems to take stuff like "the Enclosure" in stride. Even the name is weird.
no subject
[She shook her head.]
The Enclosure reminds me of holograms. But...a lot better.
Makes me wonder why this place doesn't have an Enclosure. It feels really...bare bones. Don't you think?

[Like magic, like swords, they could hurt people too. Also...it looks like you're cuddling Shaw. Just...noticing that.]
But what they can do, not so great. And...I can understand that. The Barge offers a lot of illusions.
Like freedom.
