"Are you sleeping well enough? Hjerte and I could help with that
sometimes." With sleeping spells, or just with company. Come sleep over
with Ulla and Taylor.
As for the flowers...
"Greens and pinks, I think," Ulla muses. "Especially bright and vibrant
ones, but a variety would be good. I use the color and sometimes the
pattern of plants in clothing spells I sing, combining it with thread or
bits of silk. And I need enough for three people to wear this time. Not
exactly matching, but... coordinated, I suppose."
"Not...really no." Aerith was a little sheepish. "But I'll try to figure something out. We are overdue for another cuddle, especially in the water or something."
She nodded to herself. No sleep but she'd still be all right. Cuddles with Ulla and Hjerte were always nice.
"For pink I'd say...the butterfly bushes, Anise Hyssop...and pink Dianthus for really vibrant. Stonewart has come in, and it's a really nice soft pink. Let's start there, and move onto the greens."
"We could even do that while I work here, once we've collected the plants,"
she offers. She's worrying, Aerith. "But I do have sleep spells.
I could sing them to you sometimes."
A moment as she follows Aerith's lead through the garden, and then she
adds, "Thank you for helping. These are for a special occasion."
"Oh." Her eyes lit up. "Right, we could. Or if we need a lot of bunches. We can take our time."
Aerith made a soft noise, glancing back at Ulla and smiled. "Of course. I'm glad to help- is this for the wedding? And maybe...yeah. We can talk sleep spells later."
She didn't know what sleep songs would entail, and if it would mean she'd fall asleep on the spot.
Ulla shakes her head. "No. I'd probably bring Taylor along if it were. I
actually..." Strange how this feels even harder to believe than getting
married would have a year or two ago.
"My father and uncle from the last breach are adopting me into their
family. Mikodez and Istradez. That's who the other clothes are for. It
seemed appropriate to coordinate them for the occasion. And I made Uncle
Istra a pink and green bracelet the day we met, which is why I chose the
colors."
"Oh, I thought it was for her." Though she could see Taylor in a suit with blooming flowers. And bees. Very cute.
But Aerith paused, surprised, her lips parting. But her smile bloomed, and she turned around. It was time to give Ulla a well earned hug.
"That's wonderful. I spoke to Mikodez once- he seems nice. It's great colors- I'll make sure you have the best flowers for your clothes. Of course I would anyway-but still! Extra effort for an exciting thing!"
Ulla accepts the hug readily enough, giving Aerith a squeeze in return.
But as she does, she thinks of Mikodez describing what he does for a
living. The millions of spies and assassins he rules over, and how
ruthless he must be to survive the experience. She's not quite sure how to
respond to 'nice.'
After a too long pause, she settles on, honest but as diplomatic as she
knows how to manage, "He's friendly, I suppose. He likes people. And he's
nice to me."
"I don't miss the one who raised me," Ulla tells her. "And I wasn't
looking for a new one. But he looked so proud of me I couldn't stand it,
and I was either going to let him adopt me or never speak to him again."
She nodded. She hadn't been looking for siblings either. But it still happened.
"Huh. That's...kind of a...decision you made." Wildly swinging one way or the other, but one nonetheless. She stopped, and gestured to a vividly pink bush of flowers. "Is this what you're picturing Ulla? For your colors?"
"Not a decision I expected to, though." She ambushed herself with
feelings.
"Probably, although I'd like a variety to choose from. Uncle Istra
requested bright colors, but I'm sure he'll have more specific opinions.
Papa declined to state an opinion on the clothes, he'll wear whatever we
decide."
"To be fair, Uncles tend to creep on me. I didn't expect Corvo- who told me he was attacking people when he arrived- to adopt me and spoil me rotten at his home."
She wanted to see him again. It would be fun to see him, Jamie, and Emily again.
"Then we'll take a few of these, and we'll get a few more flowers around here." She told Ulla, before bringing out a pair of garden scissors. "Let's get started."
Ulla frowns. "Corvo killed my inmate when he arrived. It was the last
straw for me as the monitor of unpaired inmates. It broke something in me,
and I had to hand that responsibility to someone else after. I didn't
trust myself to keep being kind or fair to people who hurt those who matter
most to me."
She shakes her head, because that's an old hurt that probably wasn't worth
opening up again. She wouldn't have, if Aerith hadn't outright mentioned
the attacks. She'll follow Aerith's lead toward the flowers instead.
Belatedly, she adds, "But I'm glad he was good to you." Because Aerith deserves that.
"No, that's...understandable. I didn't expect for us to get along so well, after he admitted to the...spree. And why."
She shook her head. "I would struggle with that too, in your position. Being kind is...sometimes the hardest thing to be."
Something she felt the reminder of whenever she thought of a certain silver haired person on board. Ahem. She snipped a few flowers, before clearing her throat.
"He was. Anyway- maybe you might like...to see some of the sweet peas maybe? Or the other flowers I mentioned before?"
Re: Private | Audio
She pulled back a little, peering up at Ulla. "What do you need, flower wise? We have plenty of them in bloom- what colors do you want and need?"

"Well, it's important that he treats you well." She nodded, tilting her head. That was a bit of a long pause, but well...Ulla needed her privacy.
"Especially being a father. Love, support- that's important, I think. I don't really know how dad's work, first hand."
